Here are links to the websites of my esteemed colleagues, as well as some other sites that I designed threw together.
Here are some less important links to other websites where I also upload the stuff I put on the Cube, sorted in order of how much I neglect them.
I basically use this as an RSS for stuff I put on here. | |
| deviantART | My stencils also go here. |
| SoundCloud | My newer audio is also here. I like this website for its simplicity, so it's the only one besides the Cube that I'm bothering to maintain any more. |
The following are websites which I have also pages on, but they all have their failings and since Soundcloud is better, I'm making no effort to keep them up to date.
| Myspace | Has supposedly returned to its music roots of late. Has a good player and nice front-end that masks a terrible, highly incompatible back-end which makes uploading and sorting anything a chore. |
| Newgrounds Audio Portal | The Audio Portal is an obscure and maligned section of what is really just a Flash animation/games website. Has arbitrary and constricting genres. Each 'genre' is frequented by a narrow group of regulars who have a very narrow taste in a particular genre. Do you put a Ministry cover in 'metal' or 'industrial'? Metal is staffed by A7X and Pantera fans, whilst Industrial is basically an EBM hideout. Neither would like Ministry. Also home of contemptible, hateful, 14 year-olds. |
| ReverbNation | Is too much focused on 'promotion' and wants to link into every social network in existence. Relies almost entirely on random, anonymous adds from artists you have nothing in common with. |
| Soundclick | A reasonably straightforward website that suffers from similar problems to Reverbnation in terms of random, anonymous adds. Artist/band pages link to strange 'user' pages that look incredibly similar to old MySpace pages, I can't see the who the 'user' pages are for since, unlike old MySpace, the only people on there are artists. |
| DMusic | Supposedly branched off from deviantArt some time ago. I joined hoping it would have a similarly healthy community. It does not. It is old-fashioned and hardly anyone goes on it. It still has shoutboxes! So 2003! |
What pain will it take to satisfy your sick appetite?
