Cube Studios v2
The time finally came around when i had to move into my new accomodation in Leeds proper. Now that I've finally got the room into some kind of habitable form I thought it'd be a good idea to make a new room themed update. The house is a four floored back-to-back right in the middle of Student Land, Leeds. I'm right on the top floor in the roof space next to the bathroom which has a door you can't lock yet which Parklane (the rent-bastards) claim they are going to fix. The room, rather unsurprisingly, is quite a bit smaller than the ground-floor palace which was Cube Studios v1, in Dev(onshire) (the halls of residence, not the county). Whoever was in the room last I am assuming was an asstard as the furniture was arranged in a rather poor fashion, after a lot of pushing things around I finally had the room arranged in a more user friendly form. Now all my electronic appliances are actually in close proximity to plugs, which is quite essential really.

Continuing problems in the room include the fact I still don't have a good place to store the guitars and that the desk really isn't suited to the computer. Not only is the space for a chair offset, making monitor placement a problem, but as with all the furniture in the room, it is far too shallow and I don't even have enough space to stick the hand rest on my keyboard. Oh yeah and the blue chair is uncomfortable and too low. Other than that I am quite pleased with the new room, which trades off size for direct sunlight.
One interesting feature of my new room is that with the purchase of the 'mini'-fridge (it's actually quite big, by mini-fridge standards) I have very little reason to actually leave the top floor of the house should I want to hole myself up for a few days. I can store plenty of food and, more importantly, milk in the fridge and would only need to make the occasional trip to the bathroom which is adjacent to my room anyway. So, should there be any radioactive waste spillages or unwanted visitors downstairs, I can stay upstairs for several days at a time.

It seems that in a moment of insanity the history department screwed up my schedule. It just doesn't seem right that I only have six hours of lectures and tutorials a week and that these lectures and tutorials take place on wednesdays and thursdays exclusively. That's right, I have in essence a two-day week. That's just plain wrong, we're supposed to get more work in year 2. Now they could increase the amount of independant study and reading we have to do, but still, two days? Semester 2 appears to be only slightly more demanding, with a three-day week with Wednesdays and Fridays free. Seems like my goal to take it as easy as possible this year might actually be achievable. We haven't got internet yet so I can't completely fall into a cycle of out-and-out laziness and idleness quite yet.
So far I've managed to do fuck all constructive with the Micro Korg, but I am still poking my way around the numerous presets, which don't seem half as bad as shitheads on internet forums would lead me to believe. I'm hoping that once I actually start constructing sounds for use in songs, there is little stopping Cube Studios v2 from eclipsing the output of Cube Studios v1.
Extar, over, out.
The double bed is a waste of time and, more imporantly, space.
