»Notes: UK82

I've been practicing this song on and off for a while but have been getting back into playing it recently and improved the drum track. As a result of the practicing it was pretty easy to record it without much fuss and being a punk song means it needn't be too tight just so long as it's aggressive.

This was the first song in quite a while where the drums are in stereo. You can't really notice it much seeing as there aren't any toms in the song but the cymbals are nicely panned and give a bigger sound.

I was really pleased with the sound I got for the bass one this one. I used the lightest distortion on my guitar pedal and put on a bit of compression and contouring on the bass amp to get a nice, punch sound.

I used different guitar distortion to usual as well. The two guitars had different distortions but they weren't as metal and sustainy as the one I usually use. This helped give the song a rawer sound.

I was pleased with the vocals as well, they're quite different from the usual style I attempt, being basically just shouted. I'm getting better at controlling my voice so didn't completely ruin it for the night before I was able to get a take that I liked.

The original is by the hardcore punk band The Exploited. The song was already covered by Slayer but it seemed kind of appropriate doing it now seeing as the economy and recession and what not are probably making things as fucked up as The Exploited seen them in 1982.

These are mostly here for my convenience.
